ICCES Special Symposium
on MESHLESS METHODS
June 8-10, 2005
Hotel Academia
Stara Lesna, Slovakia
CONFERENCE SYNOPSIS
Meshless methods belong to one of the most progressively developed part of the computational mechanics. These methods are increasingly used in many fields of engineering and sciences. Therefore, the number of new results in this field is growing significantly every day. It is a natural need to organize a conference in this subject to discuss about further developments of meshless methods.
The 2004 International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering & Sciences promises to be a true landmark event.
ICCES aims to foster interdisciplinary collaboration, by bringing together Internationally acclaimed Computational & Experimental
Engineers & Scientists with varied fields of interest.
CONFERENCE SCOPE
The proposed conference is intended to bring together researchers from various fields with a common interest in meshless methods. Many existing challenges in engineering can be solved by the application of meshless methods, and the conference is intended to facilitate exchange of ideas between researchers from different fields. It is of importance to stress that the conference will bring together both mathematicians and engineers interested in developing new progressive computational methods. The conference will discuss recent developments in a class of highly efficient meshless methods for solving a wide variety of large scale problems in science and engineering, including linear and nonlinear diffusion equations, wave equations, convection-diffusion equations, singular equations, and Navier-Stokes equations in Rd, d=2,3 with arbitrary domains, fracture mechanics, functionally graded material problems and applications to nanotechnology.
The sessions will be centered on the following types of applications:
• Meshless local Petrov-Galerkin methods
• Local boundary integral equations
• Trefftz methods
• Methods of fundamental solutions
• Meshfree approximations
• Radial basis function methods
However, participants who wish to make presentations in other meshless formulations will be encouraged.
CONFERENCE FORMAT
The format will follow that of the standard ICCES conference. Registration will begin Tuesday 7th June afternoon, and the last session will close around 1 p.m. on Friday 10th June. Daily lectures will be held in the morning and afternoon or evening, leaving the evening or afternoon open for private interactions, site-seeing, etc. Attendance of about 50-70 participants is expected. The accommodation will be available in Hotel Academia, where the conference is organized. During the conference a banquet is planned to be organized, as well.
SUBMISSION OF PAPERS
Abstracts for oral presentations at the conference are welcome. Participants who wish to present papers should submit one-page abstracts by November 30, 2004. Abstracts should be submitted electronically to organizers@icces.org. Please specify that your submission is intended for the Meshless Methods Special Symposia.
Please note that only the accepted papers for which at least one of the authors registers for the conference will be published in the conference proceedings.

HOTEL AND TRAVEL INFORMATION
The conference will be held in Hotel Academia, Stara Lesna, Slovakia (see http://www.hotelacademia.sk ) located at beauty High Tatras mountain. We believe that many participants will enjoy more or less hard hiking possibilities ( http://www.tatry.sk/ ). For these purposes accommodation in hotel is reserved until Sunday on June 12, 2005. Many economical flights from all over the world are available to Vienna international airport or to Bratislava. Vienna airport is only 60 km from Bratislava and it is good bus connection to Bratislava. Then, participants should travel by fast train from Bratislava to Poprad, which is about 300 km route. From Poprad to Stara Lesna, participants can utilize train transport or taxi service for the distance about 15 km.
CONFERENCE FEES
500 Euro.
